2026 News & Updates
April 2026
April 5th update - the new school year has started and some of the new school/teaching supplies have arrived and have been distributed to the students and teachers. We are hoping to receive some photos of the students in their classrooms in the next little while and we will post those photos as soon as they are available. The teaching supplies (craft paper, glue, ribbon, colored pencils/pens, etc) will give the teachers the opportunity to use their creativity in how they present the lessons to the students. Thanks so much to all the generous donors who continue to support this project!
February 2026
February 12th update - DFH Real Estate very graciously held an in-office bake sale yesterday in support of FOH and $1350 was raised! Katie Wilson, a Realtor at office, organized everything including recruiting bakers, putting up posters and even providing some baked goods for the sale! Many thanks to her, to all the folks who provided things for the bake sale, to DFH who provided the space and of course to all the people from DFH who bought all the delicious food items!
January 2026
January 10th update - the FOH 2026 AGM held on January 4th went very well and it was very encouraging to look back on all the positive things that happened in 2025. We were able to visit the schools and the medical clinic, get some much needed maintenance done to the buildings and infrastructure at the school in Retiro, provide updated school supplies to the students & teachers, provide a meal a day to the students and also provide food hampers at Christmastime to approximately 300 families of the students at the two schools. The students are currently on their break between school years but when the new term starts in the latter part of February, because of the generous donations that came in during the Fall 2025 fundraiser, FOH will once again be able to provide basic school & teaching supplies, new textbooks/workbooks as needed, and food for a daily meal for each of the students.
January 4th update - Notice of the 2026 Annual General Meeting of the Friends of Honduras Society. The 2026 Annual General Meeting will be held at #202-3795 Carey Road, Victoria, B.C. (head office of DFH Real Estate Ltd.) on Monday, January 26, 2026 at 7 PM. All Welcome! Access to the building will be provided until 7 PM.
